WATER RIGHTS

The firm represents Indian tribes in litigation and negotiation to establish and protect rights to water that is necessary to meet their present and future needs for domestic, commercial and cultural purposes. The firm has expertise in cases involving rights to river flows, rights to groundwater and rights to consumptive uses. We have represented tribes in efforts to obtain environmental mitigation measures in hydroelectric project relicensing proceedings at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commissions and state public utility commissions. These cases are often multi-party matters involving complex technical and legal issues, and the firm’s extensive experience has made the firm a leader in this field of Indian law.
